Starting January 2024, we will operate as the BLOCKFREI Collective and assume leadership positions at DAS WEISSE HAUS.

Our statement:
”Over the past 15 years, under Alexandra Grausam’s progressive leadership, DAS WEISSE HAUS has held a pioneering position among the art organizations in Vienna. This exceptional autonomous institution earned its distinction through a versatile program, prolific partnerships, and its highly competent team.
As current members of BLOCKFREI – a Vienna-based association for culture and communication – we are deeply honored to be entrusted with the important set of roles and tasks that leading DAS WEISSE HAUS entails. Drawing upon the solid groundwork laid by DAS WEISSE HAUS’s founding leadership and its team, we intend to carry on with the realization of compelling exhibitions, sustain studio and residency programs, explore the further possibilities of dwhX platform, and facilitate collaborative learning and cultural exchange. Our mission is to empower emerging talents, equip them with new skills and experiences, and bridge the gap between art education and the occupational contemporary art field. We are committed to nurturing the critical voices of emerging artists, curators, critics, researchers, and theoreticians. Moreover, we are determined to enhance the international recognizability of DAS WEISSE HAUS as a platform for professionalization that fosters inspiring discussions, innovative ideas, and sustainable growth, all while supporting a variety of voices.
Having devoted years to contributing to the local cultural and artistic scenes within BLOCKFREI, we – Nevena Janković, Eva Kovač, and Jana Dolečki – are undertaking a strategic transformation. For the purpose of assuming the leadership responsibilities at DAS WEISSE HAUS, we have formed a collaborative affiliation denominated as “BLOCKFREI Collective”. This change in naming signifies our collective approach to decision-making and the pursuit of mutual objectives in the realms of art and culture. Working collectively offers us enhanced capacities and insights and strengthens our joint ability to steward this prominent institution.
